Why did you and your husband decide to operate and own this type of business?
Both Michael and I are teachers. I stopped working to be a stay-at-home mom and be with the kids. We were looking for a seasonal type business since Michael is home during the summer. This was perfect for a summer oriented business even though we rent products year round. I also saw a need to bring the family celebrations of birthday parties, family reunions or any gathering back to the home like it used to be. Instead of looking for party ideas outside the home, this business let’s you entertain a large number of guests for a long period of time in your backyard.

What safety guidelines do your products need to meet?
State inspections occur onsite and on a yearly basis. Strict safety criteria must be followed according to the guidelines mandated by the Department of Community Affairs. The State also makes numerous unannounced visits to assure the public’s safety with these products.

How much notice do you need to rent an inflatable?
We would need 24 hours in order to deliver the inflatable in a timely manner.

How long is the rental period?
We make every effort to accommodate people’s party hours. In most cases,the inflatable is dropped off in the morning and picked up later that same evening.

What if I rent an inflatable and it rains that day?
Should you feel the need to cancel due to inclement weather, we do not charge a cancellation fee. However, we do appreciate a 12 hour cancellation notice.

Your website offers a lot of products besides renting inflatables or food item machines. Are you in the party planning business?
No. Our website, myinflatableadventures.com, is a “one stop shopping” for your all your party needs. We rent bouncers, cotton candy, sno cone and popcorn machines; as well as sandy candy art, spin art, carnival games and sand art supplies. As a parent, there is a lot that goes into planning a party whether for a young child’s birthday, a communion or any small or large event. We wanted to try and make it easier for parents to go to one place and get everything in one shot.

Do you provide attendants to supervise the inflatables?
Yes. You can choose to have one of our attendants at your event and supervise the bouncer for a fee. However, if you choose to supervise the unit yourself, there are some safety precautions and instructions we must make you aware of. We take the time to go over the safety issues until you are comfortable with them. This is for your protection, as well as ensuring the safety of the people using the bouncer. Any public event we attend, the State mandates one of our certified employees supervise the unit.

What sets you apart from your competition?
First, our bouncers are cleaned onsite with environmentally friendly cleaners and then sanitized before the next use. Our products are not rented on an hourly basis, but the length of each party. We do not charge a cancellation fee and only request a 12 hour cancellation notice. We are a hands-on business. Both Michael and I are actively involved in every aspect of the rentals. We also participate in numerous community charity events. We were recently at Relay for Life and contributed 30% of our profit to the organization. Being involved in our community and giving something back is very important to us. I guess when it comes right down to it I’m just a teacher at heart -- anything for the kids.
